Adsorption of Arsenic from Water Using Aluminum-Modified Food Waste Biochar: Optimization Using Response Surface Methodology

نویسندگان

چکیده

Aluminum-impregnated food waste was selected as a filter medium for removing As(III) from aqueous solutions. The modification of and its carbonization conditions were optimized using the Box–Behnken model in response surface methodology. Pyrolysis temperature Al content significantly influenced adsorption capacity aluminum-modified biochar (Al-FWB), but pyrolysis time insignificant. Several factors affecting Al-FWB, including pH, contact time, dosage, competitive anions, reaction temperature, studied. low solution pH presence HCO3?, SO42?, PO43? reduced onto Al-FWB. pseudo-second order showed better fit experimental data, indicating dominance chemisorption process adsorption. Langmuir Freundlich isotherm models with higher (R2) value fit. Hence, As(?) adsorbed Al-FWB monolayer, maximum 52.2 mg/g, which is good compared other porous adsorbents. Thus, promising low-cost adsorbent solutions managing waste.
